EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: Eating Recovery Center of California is a Joint Commission-accredited center for eating disorders treatment and prevention based in Sacramento, California. Founded in 2000, Eating Recovery Center of California is a medically-supervised treatment program serving both adolescents and adults with anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, and organizes professional development and prevention services for the community at large. A multidisciplinary team of professionals oversees outpatient levels of care, including a seven day-per-week Partial Hospitalization Program, an Intensive Outpatient Program and flexible outpatient programming in Sacramento, as well as Intensive Outpatient and flexible outpatient programs in Fresno and Roseville. Eating Recovery Center of California has partnered with Eating Recovery Center, an international center providing comprehensive treatment for anorexia, bulimia, EDNOS and binge eating disorder.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: We believe that anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder are caused by a variety of psychological, biological, interpersonal, and social factors. There is no one cause of eating disorders, many factors come together to create the conditions necessary for eating disorders to exist, such as: Low self-esteem or self concept Poor interpersonal relationships Depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior Eating Recovery Center of California focuses treatment on the above underlying dynamics that create and maintain the eating disorder. We do so through group counseling, individual therapy, nutrition counseling and therapeutic meals. Since an eating disorder is multi-dimensional, the treatment needs to be as well.

Recovery from an eating disorder is a lengthy process and we recognize that changes can be slow. In the beginning of treatment, it is natural to feel overwhelmed and confused. This is normal. We provide a great deal of support and opportunity for you to work through this phase. As you learn new ways of coping, along with greater insight into your eating disorder, behavioral changes will begin to happen.
