EDRC is an active participant at local, state and federal levels in an effort to improve insurance coverage and mental health parity for those affected by eating disorders.

Some examples of our work:

  • Speaking in front of Congress in support of Kids Online Safety Act, holding tech
companies accountable for the harmful effects of social media, and the Anna Westin Legacy Act, which provides funding to train health professionals to screen, intervene, and refer individuals with eating disorders.
  • Partnering with NAMIWalk annually to raise awareness for eating disorders as mental illnesses.
  • EDRC’s FY23 asks across the Labor, Health and Humans Services, Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) Subcommittee and Defense Subcommittee that was sent to the House and Senate Appropriations Committee leadership. The letter was signed by 75 national organizations and state/local providers.
