CREDENTIALS/DISCIPLINE: Registered Dietitian

BOARD CERTIFIED: Yes, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 5-8 years

Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I completed my dietetic internship at the Minneapolis Veteran Affairs Medical Center in 2015. I served as the sole adolescent eating disorder dietitian at Herrick Alta Bates Medical Center for three years; this was both an inpatient and partial hospitalization role. For a year and a half, I also provided intermittent coverage for the dietitian at Sunol Hills, an adolescent residential eating disorder treatment facility in Lafayette, CA. Most recently, for two years, I served as a dietitian and eventually, Nutrition Director, at The Healthy Teen Project at their San Francisco location. I now currently am in private practice full-time.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My approach to treatment is rooted in developing a trusting, non-judgmental relationship with each of my clients to determine individual strengths. Together, we explore how thoughts and beliefs related to food and body image are formed while following a structured eating plan to nourish the brain and body. At the same time, I am working with families to provide psychoeducation on eating disorders and guidance on how best to support a client through eating disorder recovery. I often work within the parameters of family-based treatment which serves as a guide to the level of involvement of parents when working with adolescent clients. I believe that each person can and deserves to have a balanced and healthy relationship with food.
