TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: TLC has found that definitions of what “recovery” looks like vary from person to person. A client’s treatment and recovery goals are something we define and refine together. Collaboratively, we can help you determine your recovery goals and develop a treatment plan specifically designed for you.

TLC does not believe in pressuring clients to give up their eating disorders. Instead, clients will be supported to achieve optimum physical and emotional health, whatever stage of change they are in.

TLC does believe if someone would like to fully recover from an eating disorder that it’s possible. We see that this is achieved by identifying the reasons the eating disorder began, meeting those needs in a healthier more sustainable way, breaking the addictive cycle, learning healthier coping skills, and not only move on… but thrive! Once an individual experiences glimpses of life without an eating disorder, we have found that recovery then takes on a life of it’s own. A client’s healthy/recovered voice only then needs to be nourished and supported as it continues to grow and blossom. TLC also fully supports those that aren’t “totally recovered” but need support to maintain eating disorder sobriety and recovery.

The Lotus Collaborative believes it’s important that we understand the unique individual you are: who you are, where you’ve been, what you’re struggling with, what your strengths are, and where you’d like to go from here. We believe in meeting people where they are at and that you don’t have to want to recover from an eating disorder in order to get help or seek treatment. The Lotus Collaborative (TLC) has a unique name that speaks to the unique treatment we offer.

Dr. Elizabeth Esalen is the Founder and Director of The Lotus Collaborative. She has extensive experience and expertise in treating eating disorders. She founded TLC to answer the community need for a higher level of eating disorder care in Santa Cruz and the greater Bay areas. Dr. Liz believes a crucial stage of healing from an eating disorder is learning how to practice recovery while living at home. TLC is designed specifically to integrate treatment and recovery into a client’s daily life and home or school environment.

FEES: Cash, Credit Cards, Sliding Scale, Insurance – Coverage of our services largely depends on your insurance policy as well as the type of treatment you are pursuing. The Lotus Collaborative’s Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program for eating disorders are considered in-network with Anthem, Cigna, and MHN subscribers. We can also work with Kaiser subscribers who have a referral from their Kaiser provider. Additionally, we can often negotiate in-network coverage with many other private insurance companies. For clients that do not have insurance benefits, we offer private-pay, and sliding scale options.
