PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 5-8
Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 10-15
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I received my BS in public health from BYU. I received my MA in psychology from Chapman. I have worked in the field of behavioral health for over a decade, starting work in a residential treatment center for adolescents. I spent 5 years working thru a community health clinic working with survivors of physical, emotional and sexual abuse from ages 5 up. Since that time I have lead a team of national crisis line support clinicians, enhanced my eating disorder training thru participation in iaedp supervision and managing a robust outpatient practice. I have formal training in FBT, CBT-E, CBT-AR.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I believe healing occurs in everyone. Making peace with the body, mind and those around us can happen. The way to get there is thru a relaxed body, exploring personal narratives and compassion. I am informed in my treatment approach by a humanistic philosophy. I see my role as creating a space where clients compassionately, comfortably and curiously explore what brings them to my office. With over a decade of trauma treatment experience I use a very trauma informed “bottoms up” approach. Somatic therapies, breathwork and mindfulness are integrated into my work. If applicable skills work may also be integrated, DBT and CBT.
