Sam Finkelstein
CREDENTIALS/DISCIPLINE: Registered Dietitian (RD).
BOARD CERTIFIED: No.
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 2-5 years
Number of patients with eating disorders we treat annually: 15+
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I completed my undergraduate degree at Cal Poly SLO, and dietetic internship through the Morrison Chartwells Distance Education Dietetic Internship Program. In my career thus far, I have been trained to treat eating disorders, in addition to other health conditions, through a Health At Every Size lens. My expertise is in helping patients recover from chronic dieting and disordered eating.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I believe in a big picture approach to wellness. Our wellbeing is about more than just what we eat and how we move, and even these two aspects to wellness are incredibly layered. I approach all nutrition work from a Health At Every Size perspective. This means my work with patients focuses on behaviors, and the big picture, and we allow weight to be where it needs to be. I practice from the belief that food can be one enjoyable part of our lives, but does not have to rule our lives. I also strongly believe that all bodies are deserving of excellent, stigma-free healthcare. I work with patients to better understand what nourishment means for them in their unique bodies.
