San Francisco indie rock singer and songwriter Esha K. and long-time supporter of the EDRC recently released a powerful, must-listen song about her struggle with eating disorders. Titled Surrender,* Esha creates a wonderfully woven musical narrative about her experiences. In her own words, the she stated:
It’s a song I wrote when I was dealing with my eating disorder. To me, the song provided me with an outlet to express what I was feeling internally and how mentally and physically exhausted I was from dealing with the disorder. “Surrender” encapsulates all my emotions towards my battle with my mental illness and ultimately, was my battle cry – signifying that I would not let my mental illness control me – or my life – any longer.
Esha hopes that the song will assist those who are also managing their own eating disorders. In addition to creating her own music, she is also an active board member of the California Women’s Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing women and girls in business, music, education, and the fine arts.
“Surrender” is available everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music, and the Google Play Store.
