Rachel Chandra

LCSW

CREDENTIALS/DISCIPLINE: I am an LCSW, licensed in the state of California, specializing in eating disorders with 12+ years of clinical experience. My license number is 62226.

BOARD CERTIFIED: Yes

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 12+ years

Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: For education, I have a BA in Psychology from Auburn University in Alabama and a master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Virginia.

I have worked at Renfrew Center and Remuda Ranch for residential level of care experience. My most recent work experience was the ED therapist at an outpatient program in Palo Alto, Momentum for Mental Health where I led ED groups and saw ED clients individually.

I have worked with a diverse group – males, females, adolescents, adults and those in the LGBTQ community.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My approach is psychodynamic with some integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). When treating both adolescents and adults, I provide sessions with loved ones and use Family Systems when appropriate.

I believe recovery is lifelong and symptoms can be managed and controlled with skill-building and if possible, a strong support system.

I work with a team of registered dietitians, psychiatrists and physicians to provide all necessary treatments for a client.

I have a double niche in eating disorders and anxiety disorders therefore I can provide additional support to clients with anxiety.

I believe it is possible to recover from an eating disorder. For me, recovery is when symptoms are managed and a client has learned the skills to cope in healthy ways rather than using ED behaviors. ED thoughts will resurface during different phases of life but the client will be capable of coping or able to reach out for support in individual or group therapy.

FEES: Credit Card only. If patient is covered by a PPO, patient needs to apply for reimbursement.
