BOARD CERTIFIED: Yes – CA Board of Psychology

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 10+ years

Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and my research was in using expressive arts to re-image the body. I have worked in the field of eating disorder (and substance use/mood disorder) recovery since 1999 at the residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I meet you where you are at in terms of needing: empathic listening, pragmatic tools, compassionate challenging, therapy homework, rest from perfectionism and overachieving, and relationship support.

The goal of therapy is for you to cultivate and develop an inner kindness, accountability, and awareness within yourself, as mirrored through the therapy relationship.

I believe it is possible to recover from an eating disorder and define recovery as taking care of yourself physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. Not engaging in behaviors that hurt you. Moving toward growth edges. Accepting your body as it is. Allowing and inviting all feelings. Lowering the bar on perfectionism. Thinking in the rainbow between black and white. Listening to your heart and connecting with a larger purpose.
