EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I am a licensed clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping people achieve their full potential. I specialize in adolescent psychology, but also treat school age children and adults. My interest in Eating Disorders developed out of my frustration with young women, and increasingly young men, growing up in a culturally toxic environment that encourages the development of low self-esteem, low self-worth, poor body image and eating disorders. I am committed to serving this population with a caring and down to earth approach. My approach is strength based and tailored to each client’s unique needs and experiences.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I strongly believe in meeting clients “where they are at”. People are definitely more than just their problems. My clients are treated as a whole person with both strengths and struggles. I believe that therapy works best when it happens in the safety of a trusting, supportive, and collaborative relationship. My style can be best described as flexible as my interventions are based on the unique needs of my clients. I often blend psychodynamic therapy with CBT and DBT interventions.
Yes I believe it is possible to recover from an eating disorder and I define recovery as being able to establish a positive relationship with one’s self, to maintain a healthy self-image and to effectively use adaptive coping skills to cope with life’s challenges.
