PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE:
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from University of California, Santa Cruz. I mentored people in recovery from eating disorders for several years then shifted my focus to working with survivors of sexual abuse and suicidal populations before receiving my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute and returning to work in the eating disorder recovery field. I have experience working at several levels of care and settings including crisis hotlines, non profits, day treatment centers, group practices, and my outpatient private practice. I have been supporting people’s healing from eating disorders since 2015 and particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:
I believe in the life-altering process of recovery from an eating disorder. I have recovered myself and know firsthand what it takes to do the deep emotional work of recovery. I work collaboratively and compassionately with clients, exploring how and why their eating disorder began and taking each step at a time with them as they begin to challenge their eating disorder and build a life free from its limitations. So much possibility in life opens up when an eating disorder is left behind!
I work from a holistic and eclectic perspective combining health at every size, CBT, narrative interventions, and ACT – all informed by a social justice lens. I believe in the power of humor and sometimes clients say that I can be goofy. My style is direct yet warm, practical yet aspirational. I have extensive experience working with clients in crisis, and understand that life can get messy.
