BOARD CERTIFIED: No
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 8-10
Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I have extensive experience working with clients who struggle with eating disorders in different treatment settings including private practice, university counseling, and eating disorder treatment centers.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My clients have been trying to make changes for a long time. Sometimes their struggles take over and cause them to do drastic things like over-exercise, binge, purge, or restrict. For a moment they feel better. But over time, their struggles begin to take on a life of their own. By the time my clients find me, they feel very distant from who they are and the life they used to enjoy. The people I work with want to stop obsessing about food and appearance. Many struggle with anxiety, depression, or traumatic histories. A small part of them believes life can be better and is searching for guidance on how to get there.
Your eating disorder wants you to believe that change is impossible. However, I believe that we all have the capacity to heal. On the other side of recovery is a rich life. I offer a collaborative approach to therapy guided by evidenced-based theory. My approach is always a balance of skill building and re-connection to soul.
Deciding to look of professional support is a big step. I have been described as genuine, compassionate, and heart centered. I value being open and transparent in my work while offering solid guidance.
