TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:My approach to therapy is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (including exposure therapy and Enhanced CBT for EDs), DBT skills for emotional and binge eating, Intuitive Eating, and Health at Every Size. My approach is also tailored to each individual client with a main focus on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. In therapy, my goal is to help folks achieve full recovery through behavior change (e.g. normalizing eating behaviors, using coping skills, living life more fully), cognitive interventions (increased confidence challenging harmful societal messages and thinking patterns that contribute to EDs), and mindfulness interventions (feeling more present in life and in the body). Therapy can also mean addressing perfectionism, setting boundaries, improving relationships, and working through difficulties in life that may seem unrelated to the ED. Having a trusted therapist to cheer you on and help you challenge yourself can be one of the most important ingredients.
