TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:
Most of the people I see are trying to manage their exposure to forms of social oppression – fat hate, anti-Blackness, cisheteronormativity, ableism, healthism, all sorts of tyrannies of what is deemed “normal.” I have not found the usual eating disorder treatment approaches all that helpful because they assume the problem (and solutions) are only individual – for problems that are so much more than individual choices. So along my way, I have collected the science, practices, ideas, relationship-building skills, activism skills, etc. that seem to be useful, and tried to help build what hasn’t been there. I think it is great when people can find more peace with themselves and their bodies, and at the same time I don’t believe that is available to everyone all the time until the world is safe for all of us.
