EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University where I specialized in Depth Psychotherapy. I completed traineeships at Women’s Therapy Center in Berkeley and Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health in Oakland. I have trained at Be Nourished and have been trained in FBT at the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders. I am employed and supervised by Jennifer Vera MFT#96667, from whom I have received additional training in treating adult and adolescent individuals with Eating Disorders. I work with clients on a range of issues including family-based treatment for adolescents with eating disorders, food and body image challenges, unlearning diet culture, and body liberation.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My philosophy is to customize treatment to the client in front of me. Depending on the severity and duration of the eating disorder, the age of the client, and their support system, treatment can present in a variety of ways. At one end of the spectrum, I employ a multi-disciplinary team approach and collaborate with the client’s pediatrician/physician, dietician, and psychiatrist in order to fully support them in eating disorder recovery. Other clients benefit more from a psychodynamic and relational approach to addressing their food and body image issues, and treatment is more grounded in Health At Every Size and body liberation principles. I strive to provide a safe container and my tone is warm, affirming, and a balance of exploration and solution.
