EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE:

I have worked in a number of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient medical facilities, university-based counseling clinics, and work with active-duty military. With eating disorders work specifically I have worked at residential, IOP/PHP, and outpatient levels of care. I started working as a Counselor at a residential facility for eating disorders for several years, received my doctoral in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2021, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael in Eating Disorders. My doctoral dissertation was called “Beyond Tolerance: Examining LGBTQ+ Cultural Competence in Eating Disorder Treatment Centers” and looked at how to make eating disorder treatment more affirmative for queer populations.

I specialize in conducting eating disorder training for mental health clinicians as well as speaking engagements for academic conferences and community organizations. I am a freelance writer and have written for online publications such as Mother.ly. I have also been quoted in local newspapers such as The Santa Rosa Press and written for therapeutic treatment center websites such as Monarch Wellness and Psychotherapy.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:

I specialize in working with individuals with eating disorders or disordered eating that are looking to heal their relationship with food, their bodies, and movement. I am passionate about doing my part in my small corner of the world to imagine a world where people do not hate their bodies, where food is neither glorified nor demonized, and where every person no matter their size is worthy of respect, trusting their body, and equitable healthcare.

I practice evidence-based interventions, including components of mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (CBT, ACT, and DBT). But before all of that, I am a human in the therapy room and believe in the power of a warm and compassionate therapeutic relationship.
