PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 10+ years

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from University of Oregon. While earning my degree I worked at RainRock Treatment Center (Monte Nido program) and participated in the Body Project research and group facilitation. After graduate school I worked at New Dawn and then La Ventana (both now defunct) treatment programs in San Francisco and participated in group supervision with APTED’s Dr. Brenner-Liss. I took a break from ED specific treatment and working in trauma informed community based care for several years, working primarily with adolescents and families and then moved to Substance Abuse Assessment and treatment services for San Francisco Dept. of Public Health, which I currently split my time with private practice. I returned to ED treatment in private practice in 2018 and currently provide treatment for adults with trauma, ED, and substance use concerns and supervise Associates. I have training in HAES approach and utilize intuitive eating approach. I specialize in trauma care and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional I, working on my level II certification.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I believe change happens both internally and within our relationships with others. I approach the therapeutic relationship from a client-centered, compassionate mindset, meeting the client where they are and looking to where they’d like to be. I utilize a systemic post-modern approach to therapy integrating narrative-solutions, compassion focused, and IFS treatment approaches with clients, as well as, EBTs including CBT/DBT, mindfulness, and somatic approaches to care. I believe clients who feel empowered in their lives are better able to cope and navigate challenges and work to apply a social justice and equity lens to my work.
