CREDENTIALS/DISCIPLINE: Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD) specializing in treating teens and young adults with eating disorders
BOARD CERTIFIED: Yes – CA Board of Psychology
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 2-5 years
Number of patients with eating disorders I treat annually: 15+
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I graduated with my PhD in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2016. I have specialized in treating children, teens, families, and young adults through all of my training and career. During my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente I was trained in treating children, teens, and adults with eating disorders, using FBT and CBT-E. I continued to work on the Eating Disorder outpatient specialty team at Kaiser for several years and have continued to provide this specialty care to teens and young adults in my private practice. I frequently attend ED specialty conferences and engage with the local ED treatment provider community.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I work collaboratively with patients and families to identify strengths and use these strengths to overcome ED challenges. I primarily use a family based approach (FBT) to support families in the challenging but ultimately rewarding work of re-feeding, while also providing individual support to teens and young adults to address eating disordered thoughts and urges and body image concerns (using CBT and HAES). I base my treatment in research-supported approaches, but flexibly customize treatment to meet each unique patient and family’s needs. My goal is to guide patients and families in making behavioral changes while finding and using more adaptive coping strategies, leading to more enriching lives.
FEES: Credit Cards
INSURANCE: I am not a provider for any insurance panels, but am happy to provide a superbill for patients to seek reimbursement from their insurance company.
