Janice is the founding member of the Eating Disorders Resource Center. She graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Liberal Arts, and has worked in fundraising within the healthcare community for most of her career. She was diagnosed with an eating disorder in 1975, and is well aware of the stigma associated with the disease, as well as the importance of emotional support and access to quality treatment. She is passionate about advocating for people with eating disorders and feels that this is her life’s purpose. Janice has had numerous op ed and articles published in various newspapers and periodicals, such as this piece discussing diets and eating disorders in the Mercury News.
Shana Levine
Shana joined EDRC in April of 2024. She became interested in helping those struggling with eating disorders after battling her own illness, and discovered EDRC while working as a counselor at an adolescent residential treatment center. Shana recently obtained her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Stanford University and hopes to one day pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology. In addition to serving as Project Coordinator at EDRC, Shana also works as a Clinical Research Coordinator Associate in the Division of Pain Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine’s Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys petting other people’s dogs, running, film photography, rock climbing, and all things pizza (in true Jersey Girl fashion).
Kush Narang
Kush began volunteering at EDRC in November of 2022, motivated by his past experience applying technology to assist individuals afflicted with eating disorders. Kush helps manage the EDRC website, and he passionately believes that spreading awareness about treatment is an incredibly important tool to benefit people’s lives. In his free time, Kush enjoys rock climbing, playing with his two dogs, and reading about new ideas.
Chetan Joshi
Chetan is the Google Ads volunteer for our team. Previously, he has worked at Google for 7 years in their India office. While at Google, he has managed multi-million dollar portfolios, across several industries including retain and travel. Chetan has extensive knowledge of Google Ads and Bing ads and has completed advertising certifications for them both. In his spare time, Chetan likes watching movies and documentaries, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Jennifer Medina
Jen Medina has been volunteering with the EDRC for the past 12 years, leading the free Thursday night support group. Her group consistently has high attendance and great reviews. She will always go the extra mile to help. She advocated for a client who was being denied a higher level of care by working with our partners the Santa Clara County Law Foundation and Kantor and Kantor Law Firm to get the appropriate treatment. Jen continues to be one of our most passionate and committed volunteers, never too busy to help a client in need.
David Ramsey
David has more than 30 years of experience in the computer field, starting in the early 1980’s working at various Silicon Valley companies. David is our brilliant and funny computer geek who makes us laugh, is EDRC’s very first volunteer. He started with Janice and the founding board in 2006 and produced our first website. David has been the “go to” person for all of our IT needs. “It makes me feel as though I’m useful in my dotage, and not a burden on society.” He lives in Reno with his wife Mary, his birds Ria and Jess, and his showroom of cars.
Briana Cavaness
Briana joined as a volunteer after the EDRC enabled her get insurance coverage for eating disorder treatment. Through her long and arduous battle with insurance she developed a passion for helping those with eating disorders navigate their way through their own barriers to receiving treatment. Briana earned her BA in Psychology San Jose State University and is currently in graduate school at Santa Clara University pursuing a Masters in Counseling Psychology. She is the former President of SJSU’s Active Minds Chapter organization that focuses on mental health education and awareness for college students. Briana has represented the EDRC at the Capitol Hill Lobby day with the Eating Disorder Coalition. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, doing crafts with her mom, and getting coffee with friends.
Aditi Singasani
Aditi began volunteering at EDRC in April of 2022. After mental illness had impacted her family, Aditi was inspired to raise awareness about mental health in her community to break the stigma and empower community members to take charge of their wellbeing. At EDRC, Aditi has created various campaigns covering body neutrality, body image during the holidays, and the summer body ideal, and is currently leading the social media volunteer team. In her free time, Aditi enjoys hiking with her dog and exploring farmers markets and bakeries.
Katherine Slone
Katherine joined EDRC in June of 2023. Her own personal journey of overcoming an eating disorder has ignited a passion for spreading awareness about eating disorders and providing support to those affected. Katherine serves on both the Education Initiative Team and the Social Media Team and is a part of the Student Action Committee at EDRC. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, playing with her dogs, and listening to Taylor Swift.
Autumn Victor
Autumn began volunteering for EDRC in September 2023 as a lead for the Wednesday night support group. She is excited about volunteering for EDRC because, as someone with a friend with an eating disorder, the cause is important to her. Autumn has spent most of her career as a software engineer and manager, and is now pivoting to a career in counseling. She is passionate about neurodiversity, mental health, and helping people navigate challenges. She looks forward to starting graduate school to get her masters in counseling. In her free time, Autumn enjoys reading, playing with her dog, crafts, and LEGO.
Renee Pi
Renee joined EDRC in Oct of 2023. She’s a Google certified SEO specialist, and performs keywords research and website traffic analysis to improve the overall user experience of the website. She wants to use her skills to help more people struggling with eating disorder easily find support, resources, and potential treatment suggestions to help them succeed in their recovery journeys. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, playing piano, and figure skating.
Sophia Krish
Sophia joined EDRC in June 2023 and serves as the Education Initiative Team Lead and a member of the Student Action Committee. She became extremely interested in learning more about eating disorders as some of the closest people in her life struggled with eating disorders. Sophia is passionate about spreading awareness and education across the community, where eating disorders are often under acknowledged and misunderstood. She hopes the Education Initiative team will continue to grow and improve the lives of those who are struggling through education, outreach, and collaboration with other organizations. In her free time, Sophia plays on a highly competitive club softball team and loves to sing and perform onstage.
Michelle Ye
Michelle is a current freshman at Avenues The World School and is joining Crystal Springs Upland High School in 10th grade. She joined EDRC in March 2024. She is bilingual and has many skills such as graphic design and marketing. She gains experience in her own business, WitchBin (launching later in 2024), and hopes to use EDRC as a learning experience to expand her knowledge. Her main focus in EDRC is to help with the Be-YOU-Tiful Campaign and social media.
Sahana Nayak
Sahana has been volunteering with EDRC since 2020. She is extremely passionate about serving her community through raising awareness and promoting recovery from eating disorders, whether through educational presentations or outreach initiatives. Sahana is a student at UC Santa Cruz, where she is studying psychology with the hope of becoming a mental health treatment provider in the future. In her free time, Sahana enjoys playing water polo, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Isha Jani
Isha started volunteering with EDRC in the summer of 2023, driven by her own experiences with an eating disorder. Her personal journey inspired her to help others who are struggling and spread awareness about the value of support and resources. Throughout her time with EDRC, Isha has collaborated with libraries and schools to organize and host presentations, helping to expand the organization’s reach and connect with the community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
Anoushka Chakravarty
Anoushka is currently a junior at the Harker School. She joined EDRC in June of 2023 because of her own personal experience with eating disorders and how it has affected the people around her. She leads the Multimedia Contest Team and is part of the NAMI Walks Committee. In their free time, Anoushka likes to debate, crochet, knit, read, and cross stitch.
