EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE:
I have been in private practice since 2017 treating individuals with disordered eating and body image concerns. Prior to this, I worked as Primary Therapist at an Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder treatment program for several years. Previously, I served on the eating disorder treatment team during my internship and post-doctoral training years at Portland State University’s Student Health & Counseling Center. I have additional experience at college counseling centers and IOP/PHP levels of care. I am certified in EMDR therapy and have completed advanced training in Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta in 2012.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:
I believe that all individuals can fully hear from their eating disorder and find true freedom in their relationship with food, exercise, and body. I help my clients connect with what really matters to them, working to move the eating disorder into the background of their lives, rather than in the foreground, so they can live more in line with their values. I incorporate behavioral strategies to help manage and change behaviors while also looking at the role that the eating disorder may have served. Additionally, I address the trauma that may underlie the eating disorder behaviors. Through all of this, my goal is to help my clients have a different relationship (and one with a lot more freedom and flexibility!) with their eating disorder and to re-engage in their life.
