EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: Aimee Zhang, Psy.D. (she/her) is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University and licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33557) with expertise in delivering evidence-based treatments to adults and adolescents. She received her B.A. in Psychology, with departmental honors and university distinction, from Stanford University and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. She completed internship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System and her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Zhang has specialized training in the treatment of body image concerns and eating disorders, stress, mood, anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, and multicultural diversity. She has provided individual and group treatment in general mental health clinics, specialty clinics in PTSD, eating disorders, and AAPI populations, and high school settings. In addition to clinical work, Dr. Zhang conducts psychiatric evaluations for bariatric surgery, supervises graduate students, and conducts research in the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments, with a focus on increasing access to mental healthcare using technology. She has published her research in peer-reviewed journal articles and presented her work at national and international conferences.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:Choosing to work on yourself is not easy. My clients inspire me with their courage to seek help and their willingness to work hard to improve their lives. My approach has been described as warm, open, and collaborative. I use various evidence-based treatments, which are treatments shown to be effective via research, including Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills for emotional eating.
