EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: Received my PhD from Univ of Kansas in 2007; completed my pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at the University of Texas-Austin in the Counseling and Mental Health Center where I served on the interdisciplinary Eating Disorders Treatment Team. I coordinated the program for 6 months before leaving UT and working in a PHP Eating Disorders Treatment Center. After serving as the clinical coordinator at the PHP, I left to pursue full-time private practice in 2011. I relocated to the Bay Area in 2015, sought licensure by CA state board of psychology, and have established my practice in Oakland. I see patients in both TX and CA as I am dually licensed. I have served as the Education Chair for the SF chapter of IAEDP for over two years and I am one of the founding members of ConnectED.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I approach my work from a relational and developmental frame as I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I utilized empirically validated treatments to treat AN, BN, BED, OSED, and ARFID. I apply CBT, CBT-E, FBT, and CBT-AR principles to the corresponding disorder. I work collaboratively with parents and loved ones in treatment and I focus on each person’s strengths as a way to help build new neural pathways away from the eating disorder. I believe in helping patients find more peace with food and their body and like to encourage each individual to consider what recovery looks like for them. I am very pro-HAES, embrace taking down Diet Culture, and fully support each person in their identity.
