TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:I take an approach that eating disorders are functions within dysfunction. My goal is to hear and honor an eating disorder and the purpose it has served. I use motivational interviewing to understand a person’s readiness for recovery. I bring in DBT and exposure based interventions to build coping skills and new thinking patterns to help with symptom reduction. I also use relational aspects in a social justice lens to help people navigate relationships and any power and privilege dynamics that contributed to an eating disorder.I also use strength and compassion approaches to address shame and remind people that they are more than just their eating disorder.
