EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: Marcella Cox is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in treating eating disorders in the San Francisco Bay Area and is the Founder and Executive Director of Kindful Body. Kindful Body provides online counseling in California for those wanting to recover from disordered eating and body shame. Kindful Body is a collaboration of experienced eating disorder clinicians dedicated to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care. We provide online therapy and nutrition counseling throughout California using the latest secure video conferencing technology. Our mission at Kindful Body is to help clients heal the parts of them that keep them stuck in their disordered eating behaviors, so they can make the changes they desire to live with more balance, authenticity, and ease. To fulfill our mission, we believe it is essential to address behavioral change as well as underlying issues. Overcoming these struggles can provide opportunities for growth and to discover new strengths. Learning to be more self-compassionate is key for recovery, as well as for mental health and well-being. Helping improve the quality of our clients’ relationships with themselves and others ultimately improves the quality of their lives. Our non-pathologizing, integrative approach is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindful Self-Compassion, Brené Brown’s Shame Resilience Theory, Intuitive Eating, Health At Every Size® and Body Trust®. TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My goal is to help you discover your true potential and lead a life of greater ease, fulfillment, and meaning. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor (CEDS-S) and Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, and my therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic. I will support you to connect with your inner wisdom, compassion and strength, as that’s what will allow you to heal, change and grow. I also use mindfulness, acceptance, compassion, somatic and attachment interventions to help you gain self-awareness and heal emotional wounds, and develop new ways of relating to yourself, others, and difficult situations.

FEES: Cash, Personal Checks, Credit Card, Sliding Scale.

If patient is covered by a PPO, patient needs to apply for reimbursement.

Kindful Body’s Client Care Coordinator can check a client’s insurance benefits during the initial free consultation and tell them what their true out-of-pocket costs will be, including:
– Out-of-network coverage for the services we provide
– Their deductible for out-of-network services
– The remaining amount of your out-of-network deductible (year to date)
– The percentage that the insurance company reimburses, after the deductible has been met

As an out-of-network insurance provider Kindful Body will provide clients with the information needed to make an insurance claim (what’s known as a superbill) that can be submitted to their insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement at the beginning of each month.

Kindful Body works with Reimbursify to make submitting superbills to insurance companies for out-of-network reimbursement much easier. Clients can either download the Reimbursify app or can use Reimbursify File Fast to file for their reimbursement with their superbill.

Kindful Body has a limited number of sliding scale spots, and we donate care through Project HEAL HEALer’s Circle.
