Recovery is living a healthy, satisfying, and meaningful life. Health is acknowledging and caring for our physical and emotional needs. Recovery is not confusing the messages about what we think we need or should need with the messages from the body about what we actually need. Recovery is being able to notice and respect our physical needs by eating when hungry, eating until satiated, and eating satisfying and delicious foods as well as moving when our body asks. Recovery is noticing the emotional needs and meeting our emotional needs by being a compassionate person toward ourselves. Recovery is making moment to moment choices that align with our values and priorities.

At Aspire Wellness Center, we believe that eating disorders are often complex and multifaceted, generally needing a comprehensive treatment approach. We believe in using a collaborative and compassionate approach to therapy, meeting the client where they are in the recovery process. At Aspire Wellness Center we work to address the person’s relationship with food by examining feelings, beliefs, and experiences around food through weekly meetings with our registered dietitian as well as meal groups, nutrition education groups, meal planning groups, cooking class, and nutrition outings. We also explore any potential underlying components that may have contributed to the development and maintenance of the eating disorder through individual, family, and group therapy. These underlying issues can include issues with self-esteem, issues with the way the person experiences their emotions, issues in relationships, or other mental health issues. Our core therapies include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and Self-Compassion Therapy. In addition to these core therapies, we offer experiential therapies such as dance movement, yoga, tai chi, and equine therapy.
