EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I have treated patients with eating disorders for more than 20 years and have lectured extensively on the topic to community groups and professionals. I am an adjunct professor at Sacramento State and teach core classes at JFK University’s eating disorders certificate program. I co-authored the book, “Why She Feels Fat: Understanding Your Loved One’s Eating Disorder and How You Can Help” to assist families in better understanding and responding to their loved one’s eating disorder. My approach to treating anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder utilizes a combination of education, cognitive therapy, and experiential activities.

I believe in full recovery from eating disorders. Because of the complexities of these illness one approach to treatment is insufficient. Instead, when I develop a treatment plan it is based on the unique needs of the patient and his or her family. The core elements of our program include:

  • Individual and Family Therapy
  • Family Education Classes
  • Coordination of Care with Your Primary Care Physician

In addition, we offer the following services to enhance your treatment and facilitate recovery

  • Family Based Treatment
  • DBT Classes
  • Process Groups
  • Family Support Groups
  • Nutrition Therapy
  • Psychiatric Services
  • Supervised Meals

  • Daily Telephone Support
  • Addiction Related Groups
  • Weekly Text Messages Encouraging Recovery
  • Yoga

I believe that recovery is possible. Recovery is living a life you were meant to live and letting go of the fears that feed your eating disorder. Life away from your eating disorder has trials and struggles but is also full of love and connection to others.
