EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: MA Santa Clara University, where I had the opportunity and flexibility to include eating disorder issues into the curriculum. I have also done a lot of work to self-educate about food and body issues. I have attended educational events associated with the EDRC and am an EDRC resource.
Yes I think it is possible to recover from an eating disorder and I define recovery as: Having a peaceful relationship with food and your body. To regain other relationships, and slowly give up the relationship with food and the disorder. Being able to use healthier coping skills to deal with life’s stresses. Also, dealing with issues that lie hidden beneath the eating disorder, such as anxiety and depression.
