TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY:

I believe there are 5 main aspects of the recovery process from Eating Disorders. 1) Stabilizing the health through good nutrition and stopping the behaviors–restricting, binging, purging and over eating. 2) addressing the emotional drivers of the behaviors, to find the feeling tone of the disorders and how it works in the client’s life. 3) to help the client address the belief systems and thought processes that distort their thinking and make positive changes and develop new coping skills. 4) Address the social and familial impact of the ED on their work, relationships and community. and Finally 5) to explore the spiritual aspects of the ED and the meaning it takes on in our lives and to find new and more positive ways of being fully alive.
Yes, I feel you can recover from an eating disorder. I define recovery as: Abstaining from the destructive behaviors and finding new coping skills that address the underlying issues related to the Disorder. Developing a strategy for dealing with life’s stressors that don’t include self harm in any form.
