EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I have provided services to people with eating disorders since 1983. I have extensive training, am a supervisor for individuals who want to become certified through the International Assoc. of Eating Disorders Professionals. I developed the Eating Disorders Certificate Program at John F. Kennedy University and continue to train therapists who work with clients who have eating disorders.

I use an integrative apporach to the treatment of eating disorders, creating unique treatment plans for each individual I work with. I provide individual and group therapy that addresses both symptoms and their underlying causes. I integrate the following modalities: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, feminist, object relations, family systems, humanistic, expressive arts therapy, focusing and emotionally focused couples therapy. I work with a team of dietitians, physicians, personal trainers, etc. to maximize coordination with all treatment personnel.

Yes, I feel you can recover from an eating disorder. I encourage each client to define their own recovery. It is a collaborative venture between the therapist and client. Recovery is a process and a journey, not an endpoint. As each person grows and changes, new challenges will arise. Recovery is the ability to use the skills that one has learned in therapy and in life to cope with changes, continue to learn and grown and to know when additional help may be needed in the future.
