We work alongside your treatment team or outpatient program to help you manage life and recovery simultaneously. We meet clients where they are in their recovery process and create a plan tailored to his or her unique recovery needs. We also seek to provide parents and supporters with the skills necessary to support their loved one who is struggling with an eating disorder. Our goal, whenever possible, is to help clients stay in their life while recovering. We absolutely believe full recovery is possible.

Credentials: All services are provided by licensed therapists and registered dietitians. LCSW, LMFT, LICSW, LPC, RD, NP, etc. While not a requirement, almost all of our clinicians are recovered.

Please note: We require ALL clients to have an outpatient team, as we are a supplement. If you do not have one we can provide you with referrals.

Yes, I feel recovery is possible. My view of recovery is not simply to be in a state free from the signs and symptoms of a “disorder”. Recovery is a an end goal from a process of complete restoration of health and well-being that existed before the disorder. It encompasses a complex web of mental, physical, social and even spiritual health that provides a “cure” regardless of the origin of the cause(s). I find the latest definition by samhsa to be accurate.

CREDENTIALS/DISCIPLINE: We are parents of children with autistic spectrum disorders and other mental health conditions. We have a long history of health care advocacy. I have a doctorate in Public Health Behavioral Sciences. We have been helping families with children with mental health conditions get medically necessary services through insurance for six years.
BOARD CERTIFIED: No
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Number of years treating patients with eating disorders: 0-1 year
Number of patients with eating disorders you treat annually: 1-5
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: We help families with a variety of mental health diagnoses, including eating disorders, get the mental health treatments they need, covered through their health plans and health insurance. CA has very progressive laws that protect those with mental health conditions. New regulations to the Federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Act have also recently strengthened people’s rights to mental health treatments. We help with appeals, and bring cases to the attention of regulatory agents when health plans don’t comply with the law. We also secure single case agreements with preferred providers when networks are inadequate. We know the mental health laws very well, we know when the health plans don’t follow the law, and we have established relationships with state regulators, who we call on to assist when we have problems getting services for our families.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: We help you and your loved ones to get the services that you need through insurance, so that your children can live healthy and successful lives, and you don’t have to go broke in the process. We are parents who empower other parents to get treatments that their loved ones are legally entitled to.
